The AA
“Low carbon and eco-friendly transport is on the agenda of the new government with its mandate for a national recharging network for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. This is an important and welcome step and events like the Eco-Rally help keep green motoring in the public spotlight, encouraging its future development.”
- Edmund King, AA President
About the Organisation
Chronic congestion has reached record levels in some cities. The AA - UK's biggest breakdown organisation - now uses the motorbikes and electric scooters to cut through traffic and reach breakdowns in central London up to 33% quicker, getting members and other traffic moving again with minimum delay.
Simon Fisher, one of dedicated AA bike repair and recovery patrols, says:
"As keen bikers too, we know what it's like when your bike breaks down – you just want the best possible service to get it repaired or to where it needs to be. That's just what we aim to provide.

The AA also offers a dedicated service for bikers within the M25 using bespoke, motorcycle-enabled vans that can repair and recover a stricken bike inside the van - cocooning it from the elements in a secure environment. The patrols can tackle most motorbike breakdowns at the roadside, plus they can re-charge electric motorcycles with flat batteries.
The AA measured the impact of peak-time traffic queing along three major roads into a city and found that for every minute of congestion, they are wasting 900,000 litres of fuel per year and 645 tonnes of CO2. Read source >>
