The Vectrix electric maxi-class scooter is The AA's choice for providing motorcycle assistance in London. Capable of over 60 mph (97 km/h), with maximum torque available immediately - a much-loved characteristic of electric motors. It has 90% less moving parts than a petrol scooter, making it an extremely reliable support vehicle.

The Vectrix electric scooter uses NiMH batteries with a manufacturer-claimed life of 10 years and 1,500 recharges. The battery pack can be 80% recharged in just two hours from any standard domestic power socket, and is partially recharged through regenerative braking.


Glasgow police trial the Vectrix Electric Maxi ScooterIt costs just 1p/mile to run and is exempt from UK road tax. Six British police forces are trialling the Vectrix and it is already part of the Madrid and New York police motorcycle fleets.

When the Vectrix took part in the 2007 Eco-Rally it was literally years ahead of the rest. Now in 2010 it is still the daddy of them all. The PDT Sprints might be lighter, faster and more nimble, but the VX-1 still carries the flag for ebullient luxury.
