Working prototypes
200km/h top-speed. Range of 400km on a single charge. Just 6hrs to re-charge using a normal socket. This student-built car has been tried and tested all the way from Alaska to Argentina. The epic road trip was aimed at shattering the public perception of electric vehicles as slow, unattractive and of limited range.
We are a small team of students from Oxford Brookes University who have built a sustainable, lightweight, safe and low cost electric car and hope to challenge the top FS teams in Class 1A. The fundamentals of the car are largely based on last year’s Oxford Brookes entries, such as the chassis, which has been adapted from the 2010 Class 1 entry to fit the electrical drivetrain.
The Volvo C30 Electric has now left the product development stage. Initial deliveries to leasing customers, mainly companies, authorities and governmental bodies, will take place immediately after the summer.
The Vienna Bike is the first foldable, electrically-assisted tricycle that rides with the feeling of a two-wheeler through its innovative steering and unique suspension system. It can carry a child-seat or expandable cargo box bigger than the trunk of some small cars. The trike's extremely narrow width makes it very agile on the roads and cycle lanes and easy to store.
The Burgman Fuel Cell scooter has gained Whole Vehicle Type Approval in the European Union – becoming the world’s first fuel cell vehicle to gain approval for safe use on public roads without having to be inspected and tested individually.
The project to deliver a fleet of the zero emission taxis to the streets of London in time for the 2012 Olympics is on track, with the first Fuel Cell Black Cabs covering a combined total of over 8,000 miles in road and test track testing conditions. The 2011 Bridgestone Eco-Rally will be another milestone in the high profile zero emission trial.
Born at Silverstone, the Delta E-4 Coupe is a compact 4-seater with optimised aerodynamics, mechanical efficiency and minimal weight. Delta Motorsport believe these should be the fundamentals of energy consumption in road cars.
The Lightning GT prototype is a British-built, rear-wheel drive electric supercar with a fully customisable interior. When it goes into production it will utilise the latest lithium titanate battery nanotechnology to give a range of 180 miles and the ability to recharge in just 10 mins using an Ultrafast off-board charging system. Recharging using standard 13A domestic power takes 15 hrs.
Even before our bio-diesel Audi TT was finished, plans were taking shape for the 'what next' car. Convinced that electric vehicles would have a significant role to play in the future, an EV seemed the logical choice.
Completed in 2006, German Auto Spares Audi TT Mk1 is thought to be the first diesel version of Audi's ground-breaking sports coupe in the world. Although based on the Mk4 Golf , Audi unfortunately failed to offer us a 'TDi' version.
