Earth Day has just passed and World Environment Day is just around the corner, so if you're planning to celebrate you may discover that it's not easy to find positive, uplifiting songs about the environment, but here are five hits that span a range of musical styles.

The rise of Dublin act Little Green Cars and their debut album Absolute Zero has got us thinking of classsic songs about emotional angst with regards to the environment and hope for the future. Part one of this top ten contained some uplifting music with an environmental theme, this second part lists Country, Folk, Rock and R&B tracks - written decades ago - with a darker twist.

As an eco designer it won’t come as a surprise that I'm no petrol head motoring journalist but I have had the chance to drive a number of pure electric cars over the years - many with varying degrees of success and just a little anxiety.

Avis Budget Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: CAR) and Zipcar, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZIP), the world's leading car sharing network, today announced that Avis Budget Group has agreed to acquire Zipcar for $12.25 per share in cash, a 49% premium over the closing price on December 31, 2012, representing a total transaction value of approximately $500 million. The transaction is subject to approval by Zipcar shareholders and other customary closing conditions, and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2013.

Hyundai Motor Co announced today that it will begin series production of its hydrogen ix35 Fuel Cell vehicle for public and private lease by the end of 2012, becoming the first global automaker to begin commercial rollout of zero-emissions vehicles. In December 2012, Hyundai will begin production of the ix35 Fuel Cell at its Ulsan manufacturing facility in Korea, with a target of building up to 1,000 vehicles by 2015.

Hyundai showcased its latest-generation hydrogen fuel-cell technology at the ‘Investing in Future Transport’ conference held at London’s City Hall yesterday.  In front of an audience of policy makers, investors and industry representatives, Dr. Sae Hoon Kim, Hyundai’s Principal Fuel Cell Research Engineer, explained the company’s strategy for sustainable future mobility, and presented the innovative zero-emission Hyundai ix35 fuel-cell electric vehicle.
