Bridgestone's Green Machine competition for Primary Schools

Bridgestone is calling on UK primary school children to design a futuristic vehicle that is green and innovative. The winning entry will be professionally rendered and displayed at the 2011 Bridgestone Eco Rally.

The tyres manufacturer has launched the competition to encourage budding car designers to think about the future of their environment and green innovation in the transport industry.

The Green Machine competition involves pupils designing a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly, futuristic vehicle which could be anything from cars, vans and trucks to motorbikes, aeroplanes and helicopters.

The winning school will receive a £500 cash prize and a set of Bridgestone truck tyres which can be used as raised beds to grow vegetables, plants and flowers - encouraging pupils to think about recycling, the environment and sustainable living. They will be presented with their design at a presentation assembly at their school.

The competition follows on from the Innovation Award presented by F1's Patrick Head to RCA student Rui Guo at last year's Bridgestone Eco-Rally.
