Connaught Engineering's retro-fit Hybrid+ system

Connaught Engineering Hybrid VanConnaught Engineering's HYBRID+ system can be retrofitted to any existing vehicle. In most cases there is no change to the basic vehicle package, since the 48V Electric Motor is compact, and no large battery packs are required. It is simply bolt on and go and fitted within a day. This makes HYBRID+ ideal for light commercial vehicles.

A number of blue chip companies in the UK have undertaken trials and the KERS system is expected to help troubled vanmaker LDV back on the road to recovery.

Through joint collaboration and government support, LDV can grow to be a jewel in the crown within the European automotive sector, once unshackled from the traditional approach to UK manufacturing, and by embracing world class low carbon technologies developed in Britain.

Connaught Engineering hybrid sporstcar conceptConnaught Engineering realised from the beginning that the general motor industry view of the near future had to change. There would always be a demand for fast, powerful, dynamic cars but these would have to achieve their performance with greatly reduced CO2 emissions and much improved fuel efficiency.

Connaught have researched, developed and designed various hybrid systems; examining weight reduction in terms of choice of materials, construction techniques and, more importantly, the weight of battery packs associated with existing hybrid technologies. The Connaught Type-D has been developed to show case the system in the world's first hybrid sports coupe.
