Eco Rally pit stop at The Prince’s House
Eco Rally pit stop at The Prince’s House
The annual Bridgestone Eco Rally on 31st July, this year in association with START,
will make a pit stop at The Prince’s House, an innovative low carbon eco home.
The innovative Prince’s House, unveiled earlier this year, will be the pit stop for the annual Bridgestone Eco Rally which aims to promote sustainable transportation. This year’s rally is being held in association with START, another of HRH Prince of Wales’s charities, which seeks to encourage the public to take simple steps towards achieving more sustainable living.
The Bridgestone Eco-Rally, which features low emission vehicles will use The Prince’s House as the main convoy pit stop to provide a ‘high-tech eco-residential backdrop’ to compliment the theme of future sustainable living. The eclectic line-up ranges from a Lotus sports car that runs on surplus wine or whey from cheese and Nissan’s all-electric World Car of the Year winner, to a classically-styled electric bicycle and a hybrid double decker bus!
Guest drivers include celebrity eco interior designer, Oliver Heath. The Prince’s House is a low carbon eco home for the future, designed to illustrate that eco homes can be both beautiful and eco friendly and dispelling the myth that they have to be unattractive or space age to have green credentials.
Sustainability affects every aspect of our lives and to make a real difference, we must work in a joined-up and holistic way. Transport and the built environment are inexorably linked and this is a great opportunity to match the world’s best eco vehicles against the world’s most sustainable buildings.
The Prince’s House, which was visited by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2009, was formally opened by housing minister Grant Shapps in June this year.
Chief Executive of The Prince’s Foundation, Hank Dittmar said:
“This is great opportunity to showcase an eco house of the future alongside eco transport of the future. The Prince’s House is very proud its sustainable credentials and hopes to prove that eco housing can be for the many and not just the few.”
Mike Whelan, creative director of the eco rally said:
“The BRE Innovation Park demonstrates the world’s most sustainable housing so it is the perfect backdrop for our mobile motor-show of the world’s best green transport options.”
Launched by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2007, the annual Eco-Rally by Revolve is a mobile motor-show featuring the world’s best green vehicles and mobility services in action. The event aims to demonstrate companies and products that are enabling a more energy efficient, cleaner and healthier future.
From 10am till 8pm there will be a free all-day sustainable transport show on The Mall in London.
At 1:30pm, Just after the Changing of the Guards ceremony, a procession of eco-friendly city vehicles will arrive in convoy from Ace Cafe London.
At 2:30pm a larger procession of eco-friendly cars, vans, trucks and buses will arrive from Oxford via the Building Research Establishment BRE Innovation Park.
