Gasrec Biomethane Lotus Sports Car

The Gasrec Lotus Elise at the start of the 2009 Eco-Rally

Like the Lotus Exige Tri-fuel, this sports car can run on compressed methane gas. However, the Gasrec S1 Elise actually uses biomethane, which is derived from landfill sites.

Complete with artwork designed by RCA students, the specially-built Lotus is designed to draw attention to Gasrec Blue fuel. The 1.8l, 4 cylinder engine may be 60% quieter than a normal petrol-powered Elise, but it still growls like a sports car, just with a much smaller ecological footprint.

Gasrec biomethane truck

At the end of the Eco-Rally, the Lotus parked up next to the other Gasrec vehicle on show: a recycling truck that actually runs on rubbish!

Now Revolve is offering you the opportunity to test-drive Gasrec's new biomethane-powered VW Caddy van at The Green Motor Expo 24.09!
