Nikki Gordon-Bloomfield, Presenter, EV advocate.

Electric cars have come a long way since the G-Wiz. I defy anyone to sit behind the wheel of a Tesla and not get the ubiquitous EV-grin. It's like the most addictive drug known to humans. I defy anyone who has sat behind the wheel of a performance EV to not want more.

Nikki Gordon-Bloomfield is a self-confessed geek, clandestine petrol-head and gadget girl who will drive or ride almost anything. She works as a presenter, producer and journalist with a specialism in alternative fuelled vehicles and green technology.

I was hooked on the idea of electric cars as a geeky kid back in the 1980s. But I got hooked on real EVs at the drag strip. There's something so awesome about watching an electric car crucifying a V8 in a good, old-fashioned drag race.

Nikki trained as a classical musician before spending ten years trying various jobs in the music and education industries before settling on life as a journalist. She has a passion for both traditional and modern media and was the founder editor of Plugged In Magazine, a magazine dedicated to electric vehicles.

In 2005 Nikki was offered the opportunity to become the Disc Editor for MacFormat magazine, a job she describes as being "every Apple geek's dream job."

Nikki became a podcaster in 2007 with a series of occasional test-drives of alternative fueled cars and in early 2009 became a regular host of the EVcast - alongside "Owning an Electric Car author, Mike Boxwell - a weekly podcast dedicated to electric vehicles.

Since leaving the EVcast earlier this year, Nikki developed the TransportEvolved, an Internet show focusing on green transportation and ThisWeekinEnergy, a show offering a round-up of the week's energy news.

Nikki has owned several unusual vehicles and a series of electric cars. Frustrated there wasn't a plug-in hybrid available on the market, she converted her own Prius to a plug-in hybrid and now drives a fully electric VW Golf.
