Oxfordshire County Council is responsible for providing many key local services and employs over 20,000 people to deliver them. Each year the council manages £845 million of public money in the provision of these services on behalf of Oxfordshire's 615,000 people.

All the electric entrants in the 2012 Eco-Rally will make use of existing charging points around Oxford in preparation for the start-line display and 65 mile trip to London. The 2012 Eco-Rally will start in the new electric car capital of Europe against the backdrop of classic Gothic architecture. Expect to see a range of vehicles and sustainable travel options, ranging from affordable to quirky to downright sexy.
On Saturday 18 August, the sixth annual Eco-Rally will showcase a wide range of future transport services and vehicles from some of the world's leading automakers and innovative new start-ups. Many will be driven by familiar faces setting off in convoy from Oxford to London via the legendary Ace Cafe - proving that modern, eco-friendly cars, bikes and vans can get us from "A to B without the three Cs" (carbon, cost & congestion).
The event includes exciting new product launches from the likes of Ford, Zero Motorcycles and Rieju, plus mobility services and amazing fleet vehicles. City transport will be a hot topic in London during the 2012 Olympic Games and now the UK Government's Plug-in Car and Plug-in Van grants make zero emission transport even more affordable.
Dr Martin Dare-Edwards, Country Manager for Infineum UK, and also Chairman of the Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership, took to the wheel of a Tesla Roadster for the start and first leg of the Bridgestone 2011 Eco-Rally on Sunday 31st July.
