The historic London to Brighton Veteran Car Run marked the abolishment of the red flag act. In stark contrast, the 2010 Bridgestone Eco-Rally flips the iconic route on its head - driving future cars from Brighton's Madeira drive to the Royal Albert Memorial, Hyde Park. Future cars, bikes, vans and trucks will once again be on display on the iconic sea-front strip (traditionally the finish line of Veteran Car Run) before being waved off by Eddie Irvine on their way to London's Hyde Park.

Until the 1980's, Madeira Drive was also the venue for the legendary Brighton Speed Trials, frequented by the likes of Eco-Rally guest driver, Roger Saul.

Night before - Eco-Rally cars use exisiting EV charging points at Brighton Town Hall
7:30 - Photo call at the Hilton Brighton Metropole
8:00 - +/-25 of the best green vehicles on display on Maderia Drive
8:15 - Media interviews
9:15 - Driver's briefing
10:00 - Speeches by Chris Huhne MP et al
10:30 - Eddie Irvine waves the green flag to start the parade to the Park Plaza pit-stop

The Hilton Brighton Metropole

Hilton Brighton Metropole are opening their doors and fluffing up their pillows for the Eco-Rally guest drivers. The VIPs will have time to relax in the spa, laze by the indoor pool, get a massage, dine à la carte and sleep in luxury before the drive back to London. Brighton & Hove is at the forefront of creative and innovative transport schemes. The City aims to be the electric vehicle capital outside of London. Some of the electric Eco-Rally cars will be charged overnight using existing charge-points directly opposite the Town Hall.
