Designers and engineers are facing a dilemna. In a recent poll, 90% of the public voted for the UK to be self-sustainable in terms of power generation. However, when asked about personal transport, many say they want eco-friendly vehicles to be no different from the cars they drive today: quick to re-fill and lots of power. The Energy Saving Trust is providing Energy Doctors from the London Energy Saving Trust advice centre who will be on hand at Clapham Common to give advice on smarter driving. Their eco-driving simulator will form a key part of the test and they will help to decide the winners.

Formula One (F1) fans will have the chance to see, in person, some of the sport’s biggest names, including Ross Brawn, Patrick Head and Nico Hulkenberg, with more names to be announced, as they take part in the Bridgestone Eco-Rally 2010 this summer.

BBC Radio 4 will be driving around Western Europe in a fully electric TH!NK CITY Convertible for a program called Electric Ride. They will set off on Monday 7th June, aiming to make the 2010 Brighton to London Eco-Rally the last leg of their epic 4,500 mile journey.
