Biomethane

The Bio-Bug runs on methane gas generated during the sewage treatment process. Waste flushed down the toilets of just 70 homes in Bristol is enough to power the Bio-Bug for a year, based on an annual mileage of 10,000 miles.

For six months, a street cleansing truck in Camden was actually powered by a fuel derived from landfill waste. Or, as Mayor Boris Johnson put it, "it runs on rhubarb!" Liquid biomethane (LBM) is considered to be a carbon neutral alternative to fossil fuels.

Organic Power's biomethane-fuelled Mercedes vans are quieter, less smelly and less polluting than conventional diesel or petrol vans. Organic Power is working with Mercedes-Benz to supply biomethane-powered EcoSprinter vans utilising Mercedes Natural Gas Technology.

The DeLorean Motor Company may have only been around for two years in the early eighties, but the DMC-12 achieved cult status when it was chosen to be time-machine by the makers of the Back to the Future Trilogy. They especially liked the futuristic gull-wing doors and stainless steel bodywork.
