The 2011 Bridgestone Eco-Rally convoy includes a Stagecoach double-decker bus with cutting-edge electric hybrid technology. The hybrids are smoother for passengers, quieter for pedestrians and emit ~30% less carbon, particulates and NOx than a standard vehicle. They operate at Park & Rides and on some of the busiest city centre routes.

RGE is a flagship project of Imperial College London and the team is made up of 11 highly motivated students and staff. From the Energy Futures Lab, Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, many of the team have experience in building hydrogen/electric hybrid race cars as part of the Imperial Racing Green initiative.

This fully electric van is based on the multi-award winning Transit Connect platform. It has the same loading space as a standard Connect van, has better handling and the brakes won't wear out as quickly. The range is up to 80 miles and it takes around 8hrs to fully re-charge using a normal 13A socket.
