The UK’s bio-methane powered VW Beetle will be among the world’s best eco-friendly vehicles that will be appearing at this year’s Bridgestone Eco-Rally.
The Bio-Bug, which runs on gas generated from sewage sludge at Bristol sewage works, will be making an appearance at the event on Sunday (31 July).

The Exige 270E Tri-fuel, could be the forefather of a new generation of conventionally driven cars that have the potential to be environmentally-neutral. It is the most powerful road version yet of the Exige and it runs on any mixture of gasoline, methanol and bio-ethanol. For the Oxford to London Eco-Rally it will be powered by a blend of waste wine and cheese whey.

According to a 2008 VOSA survey 65% of British drivers ‘don’t have a clue’ how much CO2 is being produced by their car. Only 5% of British drivers are able to say precisely how much CO2 is produced by their car, and only 11% know which emissions-based VED band applies to their vehicle.
