Vectrix highway capable electric scooter
The Vectrix is the world's first high performance, luxury electric scooter. It is capable of over 60 mph (97 km/h), with maximum torque available immediately - a much-loved characteristic of electric motors. It has 90% less moving parts than a petrol scooter and a max range of 55miles+ (at 25 mph with no passenger). Having said that, the first leg of the 2007 Eco-Rally includes high speed motorway driving, which would sap the NiMH batteries. Hence the scooter will be on display at the Croydon pit-stop and travel the city leg to Trafalgar Square.
The Vectrix electric scooter uses NiMH batteries with a manufacturer-claimed life of 10 years and 1,500 recharges. The battery pack can be 80% recharged in just two hours from any standard domestic power socket, and is partially recharged through regenerative braking - perfect for the stop/start city commute. Approximately 1p/mile to run and in several countries including the UK, the Vectrix is exempt from paying road tax.
